LORAIN, Ohio –– Mercy Regional Medical Center, a full service not-for-profit medical center serving Lorain County, today selected SoundCom Systems of Berea, OH to upgrade the nurse call systems in the maternity ward on the third level of the north pavilion.
This new system will be a dramatic upgrade for the staff and patients, replacing an outdated system which recently failed. SoundCom will install a new Responder 5 nurse call and patient communication system which will be fully outfitted with deep integrations to other systems dramatically improving the overall care experience for patients.
“Having a critical system like a nurse call system go down unexpectedly is a difficult situation for any hospital,” says Brad Kestner, Director of Healthcare Operations for SoundCom Systems, “we were able to design, deploy, and commission the Responder 5 with unprecedented speed, getting a new nurse call system in place in half the time it normally takes.”
The Responder 5 system will include powerful integrations with other systems, including Cisco wireless phones so that caregivers can speak with patients anywhere in the facility, advanced Versus staff tracking to locate key medical staff in time of need, and extensive backend software integrations including the HL7 system so that patient information seamlessly flows through the system.
“For the staff, this will be a night and day type of experience,” continues Mr. Kestner, “and the patients will see immediate differences in their level of care and speed of response.”
