The primary mission of the Ohio Emergency Management Agency is to coordinate activities to mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters. This mission is carried out by closely interfacing with local, state, and federal agencies in an effort to bring resources of recovery and support to Ohioans impacted by the disaster. SoundCom Systems was chosen to bring the Ohio EMA’s Emergency Operations Center audio/visual capabilities into the 21st century; thereby strengthening Ohio’s first responder capabilities and improving communications across the state.

The Emergency Operations Center can obtain video sources from anywhere throughout the State. These sources are made available to the many rooms and departments within the EOC through a 112 input x 112 output fiber optic matrix switcher. Visual displays include multiple HD flat panels and HD projectors, and feature four separate video walls and associated audio reinforcement. The main video wall features four 1080p ultra bright projectors targeting a 72’ wide screen, and can display up to 36 simultaneous sources in any desired arrangement. A digital conferencing system allows over 100 participants to gather for detailed, organized discussions. Video and audio teleconferencing solutions, and video capturing and editing capabilities ensure that remotely located facilities can stay connected. All these systems feature touch panel control systems, providing a menu-driven means of management. System startup, shutdown, video source selection, and audio control can easily be accomplished by simply touching a few buttons.
