While bricks and mortar are important ingredients in renovating a facility, nothing can impact the classroom more than the right technology. No company understands this more than Sound Com. For over 30 years, Sound Com has been bringing the latest in video, audio, voice, and security technologies to Ohio’s public schools.
While most school districts make technology upgrades one school at a time, Avon Lake City Schools chose to upgrade all seven schools in the district at one time, with six of the seven schools to be completed in just one summer. Sound Com is proud to be a part of this project.
Four Elementary Schools received new RF distribution systems, new high-resolution digital televisions, and remote broadcast cart technology. The two Middle Schools have everything the elementary schools have, plus they each have Rauland Telecenter IP Media Retrieval Systems installed. The High School (currently under renovation) will have
everything the Middle Schools have, plus the school will feature the first Digital Video Distribution system installed in a public school in Northern Ohio.
The system, manufactured by Celerity and installed by Sound Com, features a high-end digital video server which can distribute videos encoded on hard drives to any high-resolution digital television monitor in the facility.
Unlike other so-called “digital” solutions, this system is the first system to deliver content instantly and on-demand across the data network to the television in the classroom. No scheduling, no drag on the network, and unlimited access to any video at any time by any teacher. Teacher’s can even surf the Internet, check e-mail, and watch any variety of cable channels with ease.
