Sala Filarmonica de Belo Horizonte
Founded in 2008, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Minas Gerias has made a home for itself in the beautiful and energetic center of Belo Horizonte, Brazil’s third largest city. Artistic excellence and dynamic programming are at the heart of the orchestra’s work. With musicians from all over Brazil, Europe, Asia and the Americas, the orchestra is gaining recognition as the best Brazilian orchestra locally as well as internationally.
The Philharmonic embarked on a landmark $75 million project to build a new 120,000 square foot state-of-the-art performing arts center that features a 1,500 seat concert hall. Working closely with Connecticut based Akustiks, and their Brazilian-based affiliate Acustica e Sonica, SoundCom was selected by OAS S.A. to install the audio system and video infrastructure in this spectacular new facility.
Concert Hall The concert hall features a unique “vineyard” style seating arrangement that surrounds the orchestra platform for the ultimate concert experience. SoundCom installed a system that will deliver crisp, clear audio reinforcement throughout the concert hall with d&b audiotechnik Qi1 series main loudspeakers and Renkus-Heinz IC32 series digitally steerable line array loudspeakers.
To support the demanding requirements of this high-performance venue, a DiGiCo SD9 series digital mixing console was configured to control the house audio system and monitor mixes.
A complete suite of microphones were installed from the world’s finest manufacturers including Shure, AKG, Schoeps, and Neumann so the finest details of any performance can be captured. In addition, microphone servoreelers were installed allowing musicans to quickly, and quietly, lower and raise microphones across the orchestral platform.
Performing Arts Center SoundCom installed a complete ClearCom production intercom and paging system for mass communication and background music distribution throughout the entire performing arts center facility.
